Dr. Douglas Kohout joined Lucky Pet Animal Hospital in May 2010. He originally hails from Newfoundland, Canada, but now calls Alfred, Maine his home. Dr. Kohout attended Nova Scotia Agricultural College and Mount Saint Vincent University (Nova Scotia) for undergraduate studies before heading to the University of Prince Edward Island's Atlantic Veterinary College, where he earned a DVM degree. Prior to joining our team, he practiced at veterinary hospitals in Andover, Massachusetts; Sanford, Maine; and Hollis, Maine.

Dr. Kohout's four cats and two dogs keep him busy. His hobbies include hiking, traveling, and volunteering.

Mazor Thomas dvm 200pxAfter a lifetime of moving all over the country - South Carolina, Oregon, New Mexico, Kansas, Hong Kong, Minnesota – Dr. Jana Mazor-Thomas is thrilled to live in Maine and finally put down some roots. Dr. Mazor-Thomas received an undergraduate degree from Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota, and earned a DVM degree from Tufts School of Veterinary Medicine.

Prior to practicing at Lucky Pet Animal Hospital, she has practiced at VCA Animal Medical Center in Portsmouth, NH; Putnam Veterinary Clinic in Topsfield, MA; and other clinics in the North Shore area. Dr. Mazor-Thomas is currently working towards a DABVP certification in exotic companion mammals and reptiles/amphibians! In addition to preventive care, Dr. Mazor-Thomas is interested in emergency medicine, internal medicine, and pain management.
